Archangel Card

Life in Review

I decided to start off the year by drawing an Archangel Card. My intent when I drew the card was to ask the cards what I should focus on for 2014. This is a very appropriate card. Almost too appropriate.

Life Review
Archangel Jeremiel: “Take inventory of your life, and resolve to change or heal anything that’s unbalanced.”

“It takes courage to look at your life. Yet, if done with compassion and a sense of humor, you’ll grow and learn from a life review. I’ll help you take stock of where you’ve been. We’ll look at what you’ve learned, and how these lessons are a valuable asset for today and tomorrow. We’ll also notice life patterns that aren’t serving your highest good, and we’ll take steps to release those patterns.”

Wow, this actually seems like something I’m ready to do. Usually I don’t like looking at the past because I can see so many places where I didn’t do my best, or worse....failed. At least in my eyes. I have done a 4th step before where I’ve had to take a personal inventory. It was 4 pages long and Dan was the first to read it. I shared it with him before sharing with my OA sponsor. Sidenote: it’s funny to me that I did it in OA. I wanted to do it in SIA, but we actually don’t have sponsors in SIA. Once someone gets to a point where life is manageable in SIA, they leave. So, there are rarely any old-timers. At least I couldn’t find any.

A life inventory would be different I think. I would make sure to focus on the positive things and look for patterns. Of course, I already know some of the patterns and that’s why the steps for ‘breaking habitual patterns’ is so important to me and why Dan and I put it in so many of our classes.

I also happened to draw this card before Sangha Meditation tonight, so while meditating another pattern and solution came to mind. I need to let that one percolate a little before posting about it. It may end up in the personal journal to start with. I’m not sure yet.
